Like many shōnen series,Fairy Tailis packed with flashy, over-the-top abilities, often shouted aloud in the heat of battle for dramatic effect. This signature style carries over into Fairy Tail 2, where every character boasts a distinct roster of unique skills designed to aid you in your journey.

These abilities aren’t just for show; they’re integral to your success, especially when playing in more difficult game modes. Whether you’re unleashing Natsu’s fiery Dragon Slayer techniques or Gray’s Ice-Make magic, mastering these skills requires both strategic understanding and precise execution.

This article focuses on skills you unlock in Origin Trees and will not cover Awakening Skills.

Three

Dispels the status ailments of a single ally.

Raise is one of the first skills you unlock for Wendy, and it’s incredibly useful. This simple spell dispelsany status conditionsaffecting an ally, whether they’re on the field or in the wings. It’s particularly valuable for situations where your characters are hit with HP-draining ailments like Poison, ensuring they stay in fighting shape longer.

As you progress through the game, particularly with more technical and challenging enemies like King Monsters, Raise becomes even more important. It allows you to avoid wasting precious healing items on status effects and instead focus on more dire situations, making it an essential part of Wendy’s support role.

When casting Steel Dragon Sword, Gajeel transforms his left arm into a massive, jagged sword, delivering a powerful strike to enemies. This attack uses a circular AOE, meaning that Gajeel swings his sword in a wide, circular motion around him, hitting all enemies within range. The attack effectively cleaves through the front and sides of an enemy formation, dealing significant damage to those caught within the arc.

However, due to its circular movement, Steel Dragon Sword may miss enemies positioned on the outer edges of the formation or those standing further back. It is particularly useful when facing enemies clustered together or when trying to disrupt groups that are directly in front or to the sides of Gajeel, but it may require positioning or follow-up moves to target more distant enemies.

Darkness Stream is one of Mira’s first unlockable attacks, but it proves to have lasting value as a reliable opening move in battle. The attack inflicts continuous damage over a brief period, steadily chipping away at the enemy’s health. When paired with an Absorption Lacrima, it provides Mira with a substantial HP boost, allowing her to sustain herself longer in the fight.

Darkness Stream also excels at breaking enemy guards, creating openings for Mira’s more powerful, finishing moves. This makes it not only a useful tool for early-game damage but also an important part of her overall strategy, helping you control the battlefield.

Four

Star Rain is one of Sagittarius’s attacks, where Lucy takes on Sagittarius’s star dress and shoots a bow into the sky, causing light arrows to rain down on all enemies on the field. This attack is a low-cost, highly effective skill that deals damage to every enemy and quickly builds the Fairy Rank gauge.

It works best when paired with powerful attackers like Laxus or Mirajane, who can focus on taking down more dangerous enemies. Meanwhile, Lucy can handle the smaller threats, chipping away at them with Star Rain before they overwhelm your team. This synergy allows you to keep the pressure on multiple enemies at once while your stronger fighters deal with the bigger threats.

Boosts HP of allies.

Water Rain is a powerful healing spell that restores the HP of your entire team. Due to its high SP cost, it’s best-used mid-battle once you’ve built up your Fairy Rank and SP. This makes it one of themost effective healingspells in the game, especially in longer or tougher battles.

In addition to its healing power, Water Rain also helps to build your Fairy Rank faster than Wendy’s Sky Dragon Flower Wind, which provides continuous HP restoration over time. Water Rain’s instant healing burst is ideal for getting your team back to full health quickly, ensuring you’re ready for the next phase of the battle.

Seven

Tres Étoiles is one of Lucy’s most powerful finishing moves, showcasing the combined strength of her Celestial Spirits: Aquarius, Taurus, and Sagittarius. This devastating attack harnesses the Water and Light elements, making it a versatile skill that can deal significant damage to a wide variety of enemies, particularly those vulnerable to these elements.

To unleash Tres Étoiles, Lucy must first raise her Fairy Rank to at least level three, meaning that it becomes available later in the battle, once enough progress has been made.

Crimson-Black Twin Blades is a powerful yet efficient attack in Erza’s arsenal, offering a solid balance of damage and SP cost. While it isn’t her strongest move (Nakagami Starlight holds that title), Crimson-Black Twin Blades stands out as a reliable, low-cost option for dealing significant damage.

When fully leveled up in the Origin Tree, this attack can deal up to 1207 damage, which is impressive considering the relatively low SP expenditure compared to her higher-cost attacks that typically hit for seven or eight SP.

Eight

Gildarts’s Purifying skills are his most powerful attacks within their respective SP brackets, with Infinite Heaven standing out as his strongest. Gildarts concentrates all of his magical power into his left hand before delivering a devastating punch that unleashes destruction upon his enemies.

You won’t gain access to Purifying Truth: Infinite Heaven until the post-game content.

Infinite Heaven is particularly memorable for its ability to hit every enemy on the field with 1818 damage, making it ideal for clearing crowded battles. It’s the perfect finishing move to eliminate stragglers, allowing your team to focus on more powerful threats.

Five

Coordinated Chaotic Dance is a solid, low-cost attack with a great return on investment. It not only hits every enemy on the field but also effectively fills the Fairy Rank gauge. Inspired by Erza’s magic, Gray uses his Ice-Make abilities to summon a swarm of swords, which he throws at his enemies.

Unlocked mid-game, this attack remains effective throughout the story, making it a reliable skill during the early stages of battle. It inflicts decent damage while building SP for finishing attacks, such as Ice-Make: Silver.

Fire Dragon Brilliant Flamelives up to its name. Natsu prepares the attack by creating a massive ball of fire, which he unleashes on his enemies. This attack serves as Natsu’s version of Coordinated Chaotic Dance, acting as a transitional move that sets up more powerful finishing techniques.

A solid strategy when playing Natsu is to focus on building his Awakening gauge, allowing him to enter Lightning Fire Dragon Mode or Fire Dragon King Mode for maximum power.

While it is Natsu’s second-strongest attack, it excels at breaking through enemy guards, making it a useful tool in battle. Natsu may not be as effective as his teammates until he enters his Awakened state, unlocking his true finishing moves.
