When a monster leaves the field in theYu-Gi-Oh! TCG, it will go to the graveyard or in some cases, even get banished from the game. But these monsters aren’t always gone. In fact, there are plenty of cards that can bring back your monsters no matter how far gone they may be.

Every revival card has a different way it can bring back monsters. Some of them require you to pay life points while others attach themselves as Equip Spells that keep them on life support. Some cards can even steal monsters from other graveyards. So which cards have had the most useful effects?

A Classic Revival Card

you may’t bring up Yu-Gi-Oh! revival cards without mentioning Monster Reborn. Back at the beginning, many cards were released with little to no restrictions in their text. Monster Reborn doesn’t have a cost other than your ability to target a monster in either grave to bring back.

The best detail about this effect is that the revival does not negate the monster’s effects or force them into any specific position. This means it can be used to its fullest. Monster Reborn also featured heavily in theDuel Monstersanime as a great comeback card.

Swarm The Field For Life Points

Soul Charge is the greatest example of why life points don’t matter. For the small price of 1000, you’re able to Special Summon any number of monsters from the graveyard. With five main monster zones, you can fill them up without hitting zero life points.

In return for this revival effect, you give up your Battle Phase for the turn. This is not as hefty of a cost as it seems. With five monsters on the board, you can use them as material or take advantage of their effects to keep your opponent at bay.

An Exploitable Revival Card

Rulings can be a fickle thing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. One missing word and a card suddenly becomes broken. Premature Burial is an Equip Spell that fits this description perfectly. The idea is that you can pay 800 life points to bring back a monster.

If Premature Burial is destroyed, the monster also dies. However, if the card is not destroyed but bounced back to the hand, there is no rule saying the monster has to leave. This made Premature Burial an easy card to bounce back and use repeatedly.

Sparking The Flames Of Life

Soul Charge left such an impact on the Yu-Gi-Oh! meta, that players tried making Rekindling work. This Spell Card has a similar effect as Soul Charge, but instead of life points, it can only Special Summon monsters that hit a certain criteria.

This card will bring back as many Fire monsters with exactly 200 defense back to the field. In the right deck, it has the potential to be powerful. However, some cards remain as sleeper agents until one archetype pops up, allowing them to reach meta status.

Some Extra Protection For Your Life Points

Pinpoint Guard is a Trap Card that works in similar ways to Call of The Haunted. When activated, you can bring back a monster from the graveyard. Since this is a Normal Trap, it also doesn’t stay on the field as a vulnerable target after the revival.

This card also gives the Special Summoned monster some extra protection. It does so by making them indestructible by battle or card effects for the turn. You also get to keep the monster after the turn ends.

If you’re a fan ofZombies in Edison Format, then Zombie Master is a name you’ve probably heard of. Zombie Master remained a dominant force in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG for many years due to its ability to bring back other Zombies from the graveyard.

This ability also includes other copies of itself. So one Zombie Master can bring back another from the graveyard. Since the revival effect is not once per turn, the freshly reanimated corpse could continue the train by reviving something else too.

Reviving From Your Opponent’s Graveyard

Monster Reborn is great, but it can be a bit slow at times. Sky Striker Mecha - Shark Cannon is great addition to the Sky Striker archetype by giving players a chance atstealing something from your opponent’s graveyard.

You can do so by banishing the targeted monster or reviving it to your side of the field if you have enough Spells in your graveyard. In addition to these revival effects, it is also a Quick-Play Spell allowing you to use it as a form of disruption on your opponent’s turn.

Tributing Monsters And Reviving Them Too

If your opponent keeps blocking all your attempts at doing stuff with their monster effects on the field, you can make them all pay with Kurikara Divincarnate. This card tributes any monster that activated its effects during the turn. Then, during the End Phase, it can revive a monster from their graveyard onto your side of the field.

This is a great way of preventing your opponent from using that monster’s effects when their turn comes around. It also doesn’t negate those monster’s effects, so you can use it yourself when needed.

The Graves Are Moving

Call of The Haunted has its own ruling issue that gave it a secret use. If Call of The Haunted leaves the field, the revived monster goes with it. If the Monster is destroyed, so is Call of The Haunted. At first glance it seems like an airtight effect. However, destruction isn’t the only way to get rid of a monster.

This forces the card to stay on the field if the monster isn’t destroyed. This gave players the chance to bounce the card back to the hand and use it again as a way to get more material on the board.

Reviving Banished Cards

There are times when your monsters don’t just die and go to the graveyard. They are banished and seemingly gone for good. Return From The Different Dimension will let you Summon as many of those banished monsters for a turn in exchange for half your life points.

This effect is so good that the card got itself banned. It enabled too many monsters to come back, essentially allowing you to hit your opponent with a swarm of damage. This could be game-ending if used on your turn.
