Trails fans have been eating pretty well recently, with bothTrails Through Daybreak 1 and 2being released in July 2024 and February 2025 respectively. That rapid release schedule isn’t set to change any time soon either,as a remake of Trails in the Sky is set to launch later this year too, meaning we’ll have had three Trails games in just over a year.
Well, we can add another to that list too now, as it was recently confirmed by NIS America that the Western release of The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki is coming a lot sooner than expected. Titled Trails Beyond the Horizon, the game will launch at some point in Fall 2025, which now makes it three Trails games releasing in 2025.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond The Horizon Announced, Coming This Fall
NIS America announced the news viaa new trailer uploaded to its official YouTube channel, though be aware that it does contain a few slight spoilers if you’re aiming to go in blind. All you need to know is that it’s a continuation of the Calvard arc, it will reintroduce characters like Rean Schwarzer and Kevin Graham, and it will likely be as peak as the rest of the series has been so far.
More interestingly, the release of Trails Beyond the Horizon later this year means that the West will finally be caught up to the game’s overseas release schedule. Ever since the start of the series, Trails games have been released in Japan, and have then been localized and released in the West, sometimes years later. It’s pretty standard stuff for your more niche JRPGs.
However, Trails Beyond the Horizon’s release this Fall will mark the first time that both Japan and the West will be waiting for the release of the latest Trails game, which may hint that NIS America and Falcom are looking to finally sync things up and do global releases in the future. It’s possible that this is just a result of a very streamlined and pacey localization process, but a Trails fan can dream.
