Immortality is a goal many have sought after, but this sickly doctor may need it more than the average Teyvat resident. Despite his less-than-perfect health, Baizhu ensures your favoriteGenshin Impactcharacters stay well and healthy, offering them both healing and shielding.
Baizhu has a lot going for him. He’s a Dendro catalyst user who heals, shields, and buffs allies. He has a bit of everything, but there are things he does better than others. Here are some things to know before you decide if you should pull for Baizhu!

7Baizhu Provides Lots Of Defensive Utility
Healing, Shielding, And Resistance To Interruption
Defensive options in Genshin Impact usually provide either healing or shielding. For healing, options like Xianyun or Kokomi are the premier options, whereas Zhongli andCitlaliare thebest shielders. What Baizhu provides is neither the best healing nor the best shielding, but enough of both to be one of the best defensive units in Genshin Impact.
Baizhu’s Elemental Skill is an ability that deals three instances of damage and then heals the entire team upon coming back, whereas his Burst grants the current active character a state where they create shields every 2.5 seconds. Each time a new shield is created, the character is healed.

6Baizhu Buffs Reaction Damage Based On His HP
Hyper-Buff Your Hyperblooms
How much damage your character can deal in Genshin Impact is calculated using a complex equation that takes into account a plethora of stats, including your ATK, CRIT, Elemental Mastery, DMG Bonuses, and much more. However, Transformative Reactions are much simpler, as they only change depending on how much Elemental Mastery you have.
The damage gained this way is additive, not multiplication. This means it affects only one part of the damage formula rather than the entire equation. Put simply, a 100 percent DMG Bonus doesn’t double your Hyperbloom damage but instead results in an increase of around 20 percent.

This means that there aren’t many ways of buffing yourHyperbloom, Burgeon, or Burning damage apart from stacking up EM stats. However, Baizhu’s Ascension Passive grants all Transformative Reactions a buff based on his HP, getting the maximum amount of 100 percent for Hyperbloom, Burgeon, and Burning, as well as a 40 percent bonus for Spread and Aggravate if Baizhu has 50,000 points to his HP.
5Baizhu Grants Lots Of Interruption Resistance
Stop Pesky Enemies From Interrupting Your Attacks
Shields in Genshin Impact have the primary function of blocking incoming damage to let your character survive the onslaught of attacks your enemies put you through. However, there is a secondary feature as well, that being providing resistance to interruption.
Whenever a shield takes an attack, it absorbs incoming damage equal to the shield’s remaining health, with the rest being dealt to your character. However, even if a shield blocks only a portion of the damage, your character still doesn’t get knocked back. This makes Baizhu’s shields perfect for resistance against interruption due to their refreshing every 2.5 seconds.

4Baizhu’s Shields Aren’t The Strongest
Baizhu may be a shielder, but that doesn’t mean his shields can take a lot of hits. In reality, Baizhu has the weakest shields in the game, lower than even his four-star alternatives, being barely able to block a single attack. While this may sound worthless, it isn’t as bad in practical usage.
The reason behind this is that Baizhu’s shields aren’t supposed to block tons of damage. Instead, their purpose is to let your characters save themselves from being interrupted and trigger the other part of Baizhu’s passive to get healed and buffed. This makes his Elemental Burst still work phenomenally, despite the low numbers on his shields.

3Baizhu Functions Best In Single-Target
His Skill Doesn’t Have AOE
Damage isn’t the only thing a character can provide, which makes supports capable of filling multiple roles in your team. One such role you’d want Baizhu to fulfill is being a Dendro applicator in your Hyperbloom or Aggravate teams. Baizhu can apply a lot of Dendro, especially since he’s a catalyst user andcan use his Normal Attacks to apply the elementas well.
Unfortunately, Baizhu’s application isn’t the best in AoE scenarios, especially if he’s working as an off-fielder, with a unit like Cyno or Keqing taking the field. This is because, unlike Nahida or Dendro Traveller, Baizhu’s Elemental Skill can only hit one enemy at a time. In such scenarios, Baizhu can struggle to keep up with the team’s Dendro needs.

2Baizhu’s Dendro Application Is About The Same As Dendro Traveller
His Off-Field Application Cannot Compare To Nahida
One reason you may want to get Baizhu is his ability to apply Dendro for your carries to function in Aggravate, Spread, or Hyperbloom teams. Baizhu can certainly do that well through his combination of Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and Normal Attacks. Unfortuantely, most Genshin players often end up overestimating Baizhu’s ability to apply Dendro.
This usually happens with teams where Baizhu acts as an off-fielder and cannot use his Normals to apply Dendro. In such teams, Baizhu’s frequency of applying Dendro is about the same asDendro Traveller, a unit you get for free.

1Baizhu Needs Lots Of HP
50,000 Points Work Best
Dendro characters usually need to build a decent amount of Elemental Mastery to function well. Baizhu differs in this aspect, as his primary stat to farm for would be HP. This is because the healing from both his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst increases based on his HP, as well as the strength of his shields.
Apart from those, getting up to around 50,000 HP also enables the full potency of Baizhu’s A4 Passive, granting a two percent and 0.8 percent DMG Bonus for each 1,000 HP to Transformative Dendro reactions and Aggravate/Spread, respectively. If your Baizhu does have a full 50k HP, this results in a 100 percent increase to Burgeon, Hyperbloom, and Bloom, as well as a 40 percent increase to Aggravate and Spread.
