PlayingThe Simsisn’t all fun and games. Eventually your Sim will need to find a job if they want to keep a roof over their head. Jobs can be found by reading the newspaper or by using the computer.
There are many different jobs in The Sims, each with different requirements and levels of pay. Certain Sims will be more drawn to specific jobs depending on their personality, and each job benefits a specific type of Sim the best. If you don’t like the job you’ve chosen, you can always quit and find a new one.
8Animal Care
Skills: Body, Charisma, Cooking, Creativity, Logic, Mechanical
If you like animals, this is the career for you. Animal Care involves all things that have to do with pets, from walking dogs to training dolphins. Despite the low initial pay, working in Animal Care will quickly result in you advancing through the ranks.
The requirements to move up to another rank are lower than many other careers, and is surpassed only by Hacker and Fashion. Once you reach the final rank, you can switch into the Entertainment career as a B-Movie Star.
7Business
Skills: Body, Charisma, Creativity, Logic, Mechanical
Like Animal Care, Business is another career that starts off with low pay but ends up rivaling many of the other career paths. That money comes at a price, and choosing this career means that you will have to meet higher requirements than most other careers.
Despite this, Business is a reliable way to make money if you have the friends to advance through the ranks. Finishing this career path and reaching the max level will allow you to transition into the Pro Athlete career as an All-Star.
6Paranormal
If Business sounds too boring for you, consider trying out the Paranormal career. This might not be your usual job, but the Paranormal career offers many benefits to those who advance through all of the ranks.
It will take a while before you start to make money in this career, but if you stick with it you’ll be able to hunt down UFOs and give our fortunes. When combined with the low initial pay, this career is only for the most adventurous of Sims.
5Pro Athlete
Skills: Body, Charisma, Cooking, Creativity, Mechanical
Like many of the other careers that end up making the most money, becoming a Pro Athlete will start with a low pay in the earliest ranks. By the final career rank, you’ll be raking in the cash.
This career has a lower friend requirement than Business, and if you decide that you want a change you can switch over to the X-treme career as a mountain climber. If your Sims enjoy being active and the possibility of fame, this is the career choice for them.
4Fashion
Skills: Body, Charisma, Creativity, Cooking, Mechanical
Unlike many of the other careers on this list, the initial pay when entering the Fashion career isn’t terrible. This advantage is balanced out by the pay for the middle ranks not advancing as fast as others.
However, once you hit the final ranks you’ll be making some of the highest pay in the game. More than many of the others this career rewards patience. Choosing the Fashion career will also result in shorter work days than other careers of equal pay, making this a good option for Sims who still want time to enjoy themselves.
3Musician
Skills: Body, Creativity, Charisma, Logic, Mechanical
Choosing to become a Musician results in a similar pay as Entertainment at the earlier and highest levels, but differs in how you get there. Being a Musicians initially pays worse than Entertainment while you are still in the middle ranks, and also requires a larger number of friends.
Despite this, choosing to become a Musician can still be a lucrative choice of careers. If you decide you want to leave the life of music for something else, you can eventually begin work in the Paranormal career.
2Entertainment

There are many careers that start off in their first rank with low pay and end up with high pay. Entertainment is the career that pay the lowest at the first rank. If that doesn’t deter you, Entertainment ends up being one of the most efficient and high-paying of all the careers in the game.
The hours are also shorter than most other careers. If you decide you want a change, you can use your fame to easily switch into the Politics career.
1Hacker
Skills: Creativity, Charisma, Logic, Mechanical
Like Fashion, the rate at which you’ll be paid when working as a Hacker has a large curve. During the middle ranks of your career you will be making very small amounts of money per promotion. If you stick with this career path, it ends up being thehighest paying careerin the entire game.
It requires only as many friends as the Animal Care career, and can be swapped out for the Journalism career path. All of this makes Hacker one of the best, if not the best, careers in the game.
