Summary
No matter your playstyle, every single hero inMarvel Rival’scharacter roster has something to offer. It’s rare to see a hero unable to contribute to their team in some unique way. After all, most character’s kits are extremely varied, allowing players to have a great deal of survivability and offensive strategy. But, some abilities fly under the radar.
If you’re looking to climb ranks and take your competitors by surprise, you’ll want to master these unsung abilities from the hero roster. Oftentimes, your fellow players won’t see these moves coming and won’t know how to counter them. Here are the most underrated abilities in Marvel Rivals.

Defensive
If you can get the timing of this move down, you’ll be carrying your team to victory over and over again.Dark TeleportationallowsCloak and Daggerto shield their allies from harm by granting them the phased condition, meaning they can’t be targeted by enemy attacks, including ultimates.
The effect is pretty short-lived though, so you’ll want to be sure you don’t pop this ability too early or too late. Take some friends into the practice range and experiment with timing to get it right, especially if you’re trying to counter powerful one-shot ultimate abilities.

Healing
This next ability is a bit misunderstood and supremely undervalued. Oftentimes, Adam Warlock players get shamed for not doing enough healing, when in fact, the opposite is often true. You just have to know how to use Adam’s abilities correctly.
Soul Bondforges a healing bond with allies, granting sustained healing over time and distributing damage across the bond. This means that you and your allies can sustain 250 points of damage each across the bond without dying. Time this right against high DPS characters, and you’ll turn the tides of battle quickly.

Crowd-Control
Because Rivals can be such a chaotic game, crowd-control abilities are a must-have in any team composition. The Hulk’sRadioactive Lockdownis one of the better ones, rendering enemies frozen in space and also immune to all ability effects.
If you’re trying to play Hulk to dive, this is great for taking out backline strategists. Of course, just make sure you have enough cooldowns available to get the kill, otherwise, you’ll be stuck all alone in enemy territory with no strategists of your own to save you.

Offensive or Defensive
The Invisible Woman’s abilities include a lot of great, high-ceiling skill expressions. HerForce Physicsare not only great for crowd-control and maintaining distance between dive characters trying to take her out in the backline but for securing easy one-hit kills.

This ability allows you to push or pull enemies. If you’re able to time her push ability correctly, you can send foes sailing off the map, much in the way Jeff the Landshark can with his ultimate. Alternatively, you can also pull enemies into your team’s ultimates or abilities that they may otherwise escape.
These green pads may just look like an easy heal ability, but they’re so much more. Loki’sRegeneration Domainallows him to provide allies healing over time and also converts incoming damage into additional HP.

The real trick with this ability is to use it to counter ultimates. This ability can counter ultimates like Psylocke’s, Cloak and Dagger’s, Groot’s, and more. Just make sure to use it sparingly and save it for the most critical moments of the fight.
Offensive or Traversal

Magik’sUmbral Incursionis a perfect combination of offensive and defensive. Technically speaking, the ability is designed to attack enemies with a quick dash before launching them up into the air. However, you may also use this as an escape route if you need to.
Dive into the backline to take some shots at strategists with your Soulsword, maybe even peppering in an Eldritch Whirl or two. Then, if things are starting to look hairy, you can combine this ability with a Stepping Disc to get out of dodge quickly.

Offensive
This one can be tricky to hit correctly, but if you play your cards right, it’s incredibly useful. Bucky’sBionic Hooklatches onto a nearby enemy, pulling them towards him. This is great fortargeting enemy strategistsor even duelists.
But, if you make a mistake and latch onto amelee-based vanguardlike Thor or Venom, you might realize you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. But, combining this ability with Trooper’s Fist is a deadly one-two punch that can take out a lot of squishier characters in the roster.

Defensive or Offensive
A lot of players use this ability primarily in the defensive sense.Living Legendraises Captain America’s shield, deflecting incoming projectiles. Of course, this is great for those moments where you need to be healed in a pinch.

But, because this ability also reflects projectiles back at the enemy team, you can use this ability offensively too. Consider using this during a Punisher ult or other heavy-fire duelist attack, and you just might secure a crucial pick.
Beyond just being a great offensive attack that does decent damage, Magneto’sMag-Cannoncan also be used in a highly strategic manner. This ability converts the metal rings on Magneto’s back into a cannon that launches forward and attacks enemies.
Patience is the key here because if you have all your metal rings at full strength, there’s also a knockback effect. Though it’s not a crazy amount of push, you can send some enemies off ledges in key moments if need be.
Once again, crowd-control abilities reign supreme. If you can use Spider-Man’sGet Over Hereto get one strategist out of position, you can turn the tables of any team fight. This ability allows you to reel in a targeted enemy towards Spidey. Precision is key here.
However, you can also use this ability for traversal or escape. If you tag an enemy with a Spider-Tracer, you can use this attack to get out of harm’s way by reeling toward a vanguard in the frontline from the back of the map.
