ThePokemon TCGbegins a new era of demand, with the Scarlet & Violet era continuing the massive hype that started withsome of the best sets from Sword & Shield. While Sword & Shield is out of rotation and products have become more difficult to find, Scarlet & Violet sets are rising due to immense levels of hype, creating a bull market for the Pokemon TCG.
While these fantastic Scarlet & Violet sets have only been on shelves for a fraction of the time that Brilliant Stars and Evolving Skies have been, they’re still increasing in price at unprecedented rates. Perhaps the gorgeous collection of Special Illustration Rares in Scarlet & Violet sets is contributing to the massive price spikes.

Booster Boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes are ordered according to theirTCGplayermarket prices. The most valuable individual sealed products are used to order the sets.
6Shrouded Fable (Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box) – $67.68
Lurking In The Shadows Of Obscurity
Shrouded Fable has the dubious distinction of being the least interesting Pokemon TCG set released in 2024, but that’s not a guarantee that it will remain in obscurity forever. However, as things stand, Shrouded Fable lacks the variety of stunning chase cards found in some of the other sets released in 2024.
Shrouded Fable wasone of two special setsreleased in 2024,leaving it without a booster box releaseto fairly compare it to the four main releases. Given this key difference, it’s important to note thateach pack’s price is roughly $3.85,which would give this set a $138 booster box (pack price multiplied by 36) at maximum, leaving it far behind its competition.

5Paldean Fates (Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box) – $150.90
More Than Meets The Eye
Paldean Fates continues to rise thanks tosome of the most expensive cards in the set,led by the famous “Bubble Mew”. However, much like Shrouded Fable, Paldean Fates is a special set lacking a booster box, so its Pokemon Center exclusive Elite Trainer Box stands as the best metric of the value of its sealed products.
To compare more directly using booster pack prices, Paldean Fates stands tall and would technically be the most valuable set of 2024 if it had a booster box. Each Paldean Fates pack commands $7.49,which would amount to a $269 booster box. While pack prices would undoubtedly be different if this set had booster boxes, it’s the closest we can get to a fair comparison to the next sets on the list.

4Stellar Crown (Booster Box) – $158.65
A Stellar Surprise
Stellar Crown is the smallest set of the year by cards included, but it stillpacks a mighty punch with valuable cardsthat includethe first Terapagos Special Illustration Rareand two Illustration Rares featuring beloved Kanto starters, Bulbasaur and Squirtle.
While the timing of this set’s release was incredibly awkward (it came right before the year’s most exciting set), Stellar Crown is enjoyable for collectors who enjoy making master sets, given that there aren’t too many high-priced cards to buy to complete the collection. While Terapagos' first SIR is likely to hold value over time, it’s worth keeping an eye on the co-stars of the set in Squirtle and Bulbasaur, as Kanto nostalgia is always strong.

3Temporal Forces (Booster Box) – $159.32
A Tempting Proposition
If you’re a fan of the Paradox Pokemon introduced in the Scarlet & Violet video games, thenTemporal Forces is packed with top-tier cards for you to collect. While it wasn’t hyped up to be one of the most valuable Pokemon sets released in 2024, this set’s chase card – Raging Bolt –roared to a triple-digit value after its presale price initially estimated it as a $60 card.
Classic legendary Pokemon like Raikou, Suicune, Entei, and others received Paradox Pokemon makeovers that give them appeal to new and old generations. The gorgeous artworkused for some of the best chase cards in Temporal Forcesis sure to keep this set’s value risingfor years to come.

2Twilight Masquerade (Booster Box) – $184.59
In The Light Of The Greninja
Twilight Masquerade might be the biggest surprise of 2024 thanks to theincredibly high price of its top chase cards, namely the Greninja ex that took the set by storm following release. While Carmine’s Special Illustration Rare jumped out to the lead in the set’s early days, the tides quickly turned to favor the beloved Water-type starter, Greninja.
Initial rises in value seemed to be linked to market manipulation and the idea that this card could claim the title of the best SIR in the Scarlet & Violet era, but prices have only continued to rise since then. While it’s clear that Greninja is here to stay, there’s no telling where it may find stability, given that the rest of the era is packed with increasingly exciting artwork.

1Surging Sparks (Booster Box) – $246.95
An Electrifying Set
Surging Sparks' most valuable cardswill knock your socks off as this set deserves the top spot as 2024’s most valuable Pokemon set. Upon release, the price of this booster box skyrocketed to the high $100 range, eventually soaring past the $200 mark by the end of 2024.
Considering theincredibly high cost of the top cards in this set,it makes sense that the price of booster boxes would surge in response, as the Pikachu ex remains one of the most iconic chase cards from the Scarlet & Violet era.
Expect Surging Sparks to receive massive reprints due to rising demand for this set.
