Summary
Even thoughNintendoisn’t expected to show off theSwitch 2againuntil next month on April 2, numerousFCC filings and patents have given fans additional details about what to expectwhen the successor to the originalNintendo Switchlaunches at some point in 2025.
For starters,we have a better idea of how the Joy-Cons will function as a mouse, offering players the ability to use both mouse and controllerat the same time. Then,we also learned that the console will have a USB-C charging port at both the top and bottom, making things less frustrating.

Now, it looks likeGameCubefunctionality could be part of the Switch 2, potentially as part of the NSO service.
Eagle-Eyed Nintendo Fans Think They’ve Figured It Out
As first spotted by Nintendo Life, a recentFCC filing for a “game controller"has fans thinking it is related to the GameCube. It’s intended for use with the Switch, and it’ll also have Bluetooth functionality.
On its own, it’s pretty innocent, but over on Famiboards, a user believes that the shape of the controller, and in particular, where the “Label” is being positioned, matches up with a traditional GameCube controller, specifically the C-stick area.
Granted, it can also be a traditional Pro Controller and fans are overreacting, but the evidence is pretty strong. To this point, while there have been GameCube controllers compatible with the Switch, none of them have ever officially been released by Nintendoin the same way that the company has for the SNES or Nintendo 64, which has only added to the intrigue. Ultimately, only time will tell if their theories are correct, though it would be a massive addition to what is shaping up to be an intriguing console.
