Summary

The Sims Legacy Collection is out now on Steam, giving fans the chance to pick up and play the first game with ease. Well, “with ease” might not be the best way to put it, because everyone forgot how bloody difficult it is.

Whether it’s your appliances falling apart, your Sim being too depressed to do anything, or setting your entire house on fire when you try to make breakfast, the firstSimsgame was a constant struggle to get anything done. So, prepare to micromanage like you’ve never micromanaged before, or your Sims might not last very long at all.

Once Again, The Sims Is Destroying Us

Unsurprisingly, it’s all the fires that are taking everyone by surprise right now. The fire mechanics in the first Sims game have long been considered far too punishing, as it can be incredibly hard to get your characters to respond to it appropriately and avoid death. They can also happen ridiculously frequently, so maybe don’t get too attached to the families you’re creating right now.

However, even if you manage to dodge the fires, just keeping your Sims happy can prove incredibly challenging. This is best summarised by Twitter user @MoniqueMonsters, who says that the balancing act was “borderline impossible” by design.

With that said, if you’re diving back in for the re-release, it won’t just be the game mechanics you’re contending with. Many are also experiencingperformance issues and crashes with both Sims games. Patches are on the way, but for some, the game isn’t quite playable right now.
