Pokemon TCG Pockettravels to the Sinnoh region in the Space-Time Smackdown set. Generation four features plenty of unique entries to the Pokedex, ranging from honey-loving swarms to massive plants with healing abilities. It’s a botanical bonanza as you expand your collection with many good-looking cards to get excited about.

Space-Time Smackdown adds an additional 22 Grass-type Pokemon to the roster that can turn your deck into a powerhouse or even make it easier to get the cards you need directly from the deck to the field. So which Grass-types manage to come out victorious when ranked side by side?

10Carnivine

A Chance To Knock Out Some Basics

Every Pokemon has a different advantage depending on how many Stages it needs to reach full power. Carnivine isa Basic Pokemon with zero Evolutions, so you can play it without worrying about needing any other cards to make it work.

It has a maximum damage cap of 90 if you land the coin flip correctly, 90 HP, and a cheap Retreat Cost. This Pokemon can get some damage in quickly with the proper setup. Being a Basic Pokemon helps it climb the ranks of Grass-types, but better options do exist.

9Tangrowth

Take Tangela To The Next Level

Pokemon that can heal themselvesalways last longer. This makes them especially useful when you want to keep stalling the game. Tangrowth gives any of your Tangela cards a chance to Evolve into this much stronger card.

With 130 HP and Mega Drain doing a solid 90 damage each turn, it gives baby Venusaur from Genetic Apex a run for its money. Tangrowth does a similar amount of damage while being a smaller package to run in your deck, making it easier to slide in alongside Serperior.

8Roserade

Roserade isa Stage One Pokemonthat can deal 50 damage for two Energy while also leaving them Poisoned. This is a useful skill to have since Poison means that your opponent’s Pokemon will still feel Roserade’s effects even if it gets knocked out.

Roserade may not be the toughest Grass-type in terms of raw power, but being able to force your opponent to Retreat a Pokemon just to get rid of a Status Effect can be a great mind trick. It can also do more damage per turn than its counterpart in Genetic Apex, Venomoth.

7Leafeon

The Old One Two

Leafeon gives Eevee another route it can go during evolution. In fact, it manages to deal a significant amount of damage for two Energy at the expense of not being able to do it twice in a row. However, there are ways to get around this.

While your current Leafeon may not be able to use Leafy Cyclone a second time, you can use an X Speed to swap it out for another Leafeon in your Bench. This way, you can technically reset Leafeon thanks to the Moves-specific wording.

6Torterra

One Powerful Strike

The Sinnoh starters may not have as many ex Pokemon at the end of their lines, but Torterra can match their power. With 160 HP,Torterra has plenty of durability. It will need it if it wants to use Frenzy Plant more than once.

For four Energy, Frenzy Plant does 150 damage. This can slice through Pokemon like butter but needs a turn to recharge before Torterra can do it again. Your game plan should be to knock out your opponent’s strongest Pokemon and hope their replacement isn’t as powerful.

5Kricketune

Introducing Confusion

Kricketune sports one of the additional Status Effects introduced in Space-Tiem Smackdown. This is Confusion. When Kricketune attacks with Entrancing Melody, your opponent’s next attack will require a coin flip if it wants to go through.

This can help protect Kricketune if the stars align, and it’s an interesting introduction to the additional Status Effects. Kricketune feels as if it were made specifically for stall strategies inthe jankiest of decks. Another plus for Kricketune, Confusion does not go away unless your opponent Retreats.

4Shaymin

A Counter For Cyrus

Shaymin provides healing from the Bench similar to Butterfree. However, rather than being a massive package in a Grass-type deck, Shaymin is a Basic Pokemon you can immediately slap down and get some healing done each turn.

This card helps every one of your Pokemon last a bit longer and can be a great tech card if you have enough space for it. It can also help counter Cyrus if your opponent tries to spread damage counters for the deadly switch. Shaymin comes out on top because of this.

3Mow Rotom

Energy Sucking Rotom

The Space-Time Smackdown set has plenty of different Rotoms to collect. One of them is Mow Rotom. While it does not dish out any incredible damage, it can provide you with a stall method bydiscarding Energy from your opponent’s Pokemon.

This can be incredibly deadly early in the game, and Mow Rotom being a Basic Pokemon means it can start doing it as soon as it hits the field. The only downside is that this discard is reliant on a coin flip, but the intent is there.

2Combee

Poke Ball On Legs

The Vespiqueen line is decent at most, but the real star is Combee. This is because it is incredibly generic, using any type of Energy to use Call for Family. This makes it a powerful tech card for searching out your other Basic Pokemon at the start of the game.

Combee fetches you a random Basic Pokemon from your deck and places it directly on your field. This can make it easy to find what you need when Poke Ball fails you or when Professor’s Research doesn’t draw into any of your Basic ex Pokemon.

1Yanmega Ex

The Most Generic Grass-type Ex Pokemon

Yanmega ex is easy to dismiss, but it’s actually a fantastic tech card. All three of its Energy requirements are Colorless. This means you may feed it Steel, Fire, Electric, or any other type of Energy, and it will be able to attack.

This makes it very easy toturn any deck into a dual-type deckas long as you have space to run the package. Air Slash also does 120 damage, which is a solid amount for two-turn knockouts. A Retreat Cost of one also makes it easy to avoid your opponent getting two points.
