Summary

The multiverse of Geralt is about to get a little bigger as we’re soon going to see an animated version of the Butcher of Blaviken in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This version of Geralt will be voiced by none other than Doug Cockle, who lends his voice to the video game version. It seems like a treat for fans of the game, who will have to wait tillThe Witcher 4to hear his iconic voice again.

While Sirens of the Deep will mostly focus on Geralt dealing with some sort of merpeople and also real people, it seems there is a scene which was originally supposed to be in the live-action series. Since the animated movie is also by Netflix, it looks like they decided to include this scene here.

In a conversation withSFX Magazine(viaGamesRadar+), writer Mike Ostrowski revealed that the movie is set between episodes five and six of the first season of the live action series, where Geralt and Yennefer are on the outs after the incident with the djinn. Ostrowski refers to it as “a period of not being together, or a period of trouble, but still on each other’s minds.”

Along with co-writer Rae Benjamin, Ostrowski included a “fun little scene” into the movie that was originally meant to be in the TV show. While they didn’t reveal any more information, the scene will evidently feature Geralt and Yen. “Geralt cannot let Yennefer go, even though he’s trying his best,” Ostrowski explained. “She haunts him. Even if he wanted to be rid of her, he can’t.”

As for the video game side of things, Doug Cockle recentlyspoke about what made The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt so great. It was a milestone in game development for all kinds of reasons: the quality of the animation; the quality of the gameplay; the visuals; the sound design; the storytelling; the writing," he said. “All of it was so amazing when it first came out, and it continues to be amazing.”
