Sniper Elite: Resistanceand its other SE counterparts feel a little bit old-school, from an era where most games that came out had a handful of different modes packed into it, apart from the main mode that the game is centered around; something that’s fallen slightly out of fashion in modern games.
For SE: Resistance’s part, one of those modes is the Survival Mode. This is very much what comes to mind for survival modes in most games: you (and allies, if you wish) are tasked with defending a location from waves of enemies that increase in difficulty the further on you go.
How Does Survival Mode Work?
Survival Modeputs you in one oftwo different maps availablefor the mode, calledFortress CommandorMark Of The Eagle. Each of those maps then containsfour different objectives, from A to D.
At each of these objectives, you’re going to be tasked withdefending the pointfromthree waves of Nazis, each. All in all, that’s going to be12 waves, where the third wave of each is going to be the most difficult.
You’ll have access to all the equipment that you’ve unlocked in the Campaign in Survival Mode, though you’ll need to simplyreapply your skill pointsfor this mode.
What To Expect From Waves In Survival Mode
While there is some variance in waves, and the difficulty is going to depend somewhat on thedifficulty options that you select, there are somethingsthatyou can expect from each wave.
What Are Operations?
Operationsare different sets of objectives, and will put you indifferent locations through the map.Both mapshavefour different operations, witheach operationconsisting offour objectives each. This makes for32 different objectivesto defend, all told.

How To Complete Survival Mode
Finishing Survival Modeis going to requiredefeating every Nazi in every round, all the way to the conclusion, in objective D.
Once youcomplete each objective, you’ll beteleported to the next, which a small amount of prep time.
Once you’ve completed a certain wave in each operation, you’ll be able to set that as a starting point in the future, if you’d like.
There aretwo maps availablein Survival Mode:
Fortress Command
Fortress Commandis going tolimityour options forlong-range engagements, forcing you to getcomfortable with closer-range weaponry. This is true for Survival Mode as a whole, but more true for this map than the other.
Enemies are going to be funneled into certain locations more on this map on occasion, andyou’ll need tomake use of that bygaining smart sightlinesandplacing explosivesbeforehand.
Mark Of The Eagle
This map is taken from the third and arguably thebest mission in the game. This mission willoffer yousomelonger sightlines, giving you more license to use your sniper rifle in situations that it’s built for.
This map is a little bitmore openin general though, making it abit more difficult to trap locationsfor enemies beforehand. There are going to be a lot of angles that you’re going to need to cover at the same time,making things challengingwhenenemies start toreallybuild up.
How To Play Survival Mode Solo
Toplay Survival Mode aloneandoffline, select the ‘Solo’ option on the left of the screen. This is likely going to be thehardest way to experience Survival Mode, as there are going to bemore enemiesthanone person can easily manage, and it cannot be completed in stealth, like the Campaign.
Tips For Playing Survival Mode Solo
When playing Survival Mode on your own, you’re going toneed every tool in your toolbox, or you’re going to fail. After the easy waves, there are going to be too many enemies thrown at your at the same time to shoot your way out of it with a rifle alone.
How To Play Survival Mode With Friends
Playing Survival Modewith friendscan be done byselecting eitherthe ‘Host’ or ‘Browse Games’ options on the right of the screen. If you’re hosting, you’ll need to set the map type, difficulty, and operation, then invite any friends that you’d like to join. you may also host an open lobby, allowing anyone to join.
If you’d like to play withrandom players, you can select the ‘Quick Match’ option in the center of the screen.
Tips For Playing Survival Mode With Friends
Playing with friendsis going to make this modemeasurably easier, but it can still be failed if you don’t do your job.
