Warner Bros. Montrealis reportedly working on aGame of Thronesgame after having pitches and projects based on The Flash and Constantine cancelled.

The gaming industry is generally in a very rough shape, but there are a few companies and studios that are doing worse than others. Perhaps the biggest example that jumps to mind is Warner Bros., who has seen a string of failures over the past few years, includingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,MultiVersus, and, depending on who you ask, even Mortal Kombat 1.

With so many big failures recently, you might be wondering what’s been going on behind the scenes at WB.Thanks to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, we now have a decent idea of all the troubles, as he reported earlier that, while a new Batman game is in development at Rocksteady, it and Wonder Woman are both years away.

WB Montreal Pitched A Game Based On The Flash, Now Eyeing Up Game Of Thrones

Bloomberg’s report didn’t just focus on Wonder Woman and the next title from Rocksteady, however,as it also detailed what Warner Bros. Montreal has been up to. The developers ofGotham Knightshave been silent since that game released, and it turns out that there was a good reason why.

According to Schreier, WB Montreal initially wanted to make a “1.5” version of Gotham Knights that would fix some of its flaws, but that was quickly rejected. Montreal then pitched an idea for a game based on John Constantine, which initially caused excitement but was then rejected due to budget and timeline issues.

Here’s hoping we at least finally get Constantine in the next Injustice game, whenever that ends up becoming a reality.

After all of that, the team then figured it should work on a game based on a recognisable DC character like the Flash or the Joker. Montreal went with the Flash, but the failure of the movie starring Ezra Miller caused that project to be completely scrapped. Considering how long a Flash game has been asked for, that makes the movie an even bigger gut punch.

To lessen that blow just a little bit, Bloomberg reports that, alongside helping Monolith out with its Wonder Woman game, Montreal is now working on a pitch for a game based on Game of Thrones. That doesn’t guarantee it’ll enter development, but withWB previously calling Game of Thrones one of its main focuses when it comes to video games, it does seem like a safe bet.
