Monster Hunter has always had a fair share of secrets in its many regions, the kind you need to be really paying attention to if you want to notice. That’s no different inMonster Hunter Wilds, with some previously standard features becoming somewhat more obscure. With the absence of Gathering quests, Wyvern Eggs seem like quite the oddity.
In previous games, the delivery of Wyvern Eggs was a standard affair, though this time around they are next to impossible to even find, let alone know what you’re meant to do with them. Well here’s where to find Wyvern Eggs in Monster Hunter Wilds, and what exactly they even do.
Where Are Wyvern Eggs Found?
There is justone single Wyvern Egg to be found in all of Monster Hunter Wilds, and it is hidden away in the Scarlet Forest. You might come across it naturally if you’re fighting a Rathian in the Scarlet Forest and you follow it back to its nest. Otherwise, it can be found in the canopy of the treesin Area 11. There can be multiple eggs in the nest, or just a single one.
Sometimes, there will be a Rathian resting here, or the nest might be empty entirely. Alma will be kind enough to comment on the Wyvern Eggs if you get close enough to let you know you can pick them up. Just do so at your own risk. Rathian seems to have some pretty strong parental instincts, andwill appear as soon as you pick up the egg. Delivering an egg isn’t as simple as just picking it up and adding it to your inventory though. This is a real delivery.
How To Deliver Wyvern Eggs
Once you’ve picked up a Wyvern Egg,your movement speed is dramatically slowed, and you can no longer access the map menu. Oh, and it will almostimmediately summon a Rathianto your location, so be aware of that. Turns out they don’t take very kindly to their eggs being stolen from the nest.
Wyvern Eggs, just like real ones, are exceptionally fragile. If you are hit while holding an egg,it will break. And while your Hunter might be immune to fall damage, the same cannot be said for the egg in your hands.Jump from too high, and the egg will shatter, so it’s best to avoid jumping entirely. You also can’t use your Seikret, so your own feet are all you have left. Slow and steady is your only option.
If you absolutely need to,you can drop the Wyvern Egg with Square/Xif you need to open the map or avoid a monster.
Before even picking up the Wyvern Egg, we would recommendequipping the Ghillie Mantle. This will stop any nearby Rathian from seeing you, even after you pick up the egg, no matter how fast you run. Just keep the time limit in mind because Rathian will home in on your location as soon as your mantle wears off, no matter how far from her nest you are.
Wyvern Eggs can only be found in Area 11 of the Scarlet Forest, which also means there is an optimal route to delivering it. You don’t have to travel all the way back to Base Camp, but to any Pop-Up Camps, too. And theArea 12: Northeast Pop-Up Campis right below the trees for easy access. Just don’t fall.
Immediately after picking up the Wyvern Egg, turn north and climb down the vines.Approach these slowly so you don’t accidentally jump right off. This will bring you to a lower tree, where you have to climb down another, even longer set of vines until you reach the bottom. There will be lots of smaller monsters around here that will also attempt to knock you down, so try to weave your way around them.
If you do defeat the Rathian guarding the nest, you will be able to deliver the Wyvern Egg in relative peace, if that’s a more stress-free method for you.
If you’re following this path directly without distractions, there should bejust enough time to reach the Pop-Up Camp before your Ghillie Mantle wears off. To deliver the egg, you just have to walk close enough to the tent, after which you will be granted 50 Guild Points, a fairly miniscule reward for all the effort. At least you get Alma’s thanks, as well.
It is very likely that theRathian will still chase you down right to your tenteven if you’ve avoided them thus far, so be prepared for your tent to be destroyed and another hunt to commence.
