Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Landfeatures a day-and-night system with four phases: morning, day, afternoon, and night. It’s a visually feast for the eyes, but as one might expect, it does include a handful of gameplay-affecting elements as well.

you may change the time of day in Atelier’s overworld regions byresting on beds and at campsites. This is all well and good, of course, but what’s the point? As of this writing, experience has thus far suggested that… there isn’t much. But there aresome. Let’s take it from the top.

A green-hatted alber in Atelier Yumia

Albers

You may have encountered a few of thosesmall creatures with large hatsbefore Atelier Yumia’s storyline sends you to their settlementdeep within the Lignatus Region. They’re calledAlbers, and they’re really quite nice.

Albers with variously-coloured hatscan be found in various placesthroughout the world, andthe gifts they’ll give you just for speaking with them will change according to the time of day. (The dialogue shifts, too.)

We noticed this via trial-and-error, and sure enough, the results do differ. You can head back to them for different items at various times, too, so don’t be a stranger.

Random Quest Conditions

A handful of Random Questsinvolve specific times of dayfor their conditions to be fulfilled.

The first instance of this we encountered was the Random Quest entitled"Eerie Sound", which involves a frightened researcher tasking Yumia and the gang withentering a building to battle a Rock Golem which only appears at night.

It’s not much, but it’s something!

Bits Of Banter

Beyond all that, the day/night cycle in Atelier Yumia exists to triggerminor observationsfrom your customarily chatty party members. If it’snearing noon, for instance, someone might express their hunger. If you explored all night,Yumia may remark that she’s exhausted.

None of this dialogue affects any gameplay systems,so it’s simply there to enliven the adventure a little bit.

Thus, if you were hoping for a particularly deep system with all of this, you’re likely to be disappointed, but hey -the gameisrather pretty, and the shifts from mornings into nights do help to showcase that.
