Where Is Dehengen?

Speak with her to learn that she’s having a streak of bad luck and Xaurips are now overrunning her house.

If you have enough points into Intellect, you’ll learn that her plants died of the plague.

The Envoy is running up the stairs to Dehengen’s house.

You can ask why she’s in Paradis, but she’ll be vague about it. Exhaust her dialogue options, thenagree to take care of the Xaurips. She’ll hand you her house key, officially starting the Cabin Fever side quest.

How To Reach Dehengen’s Cabin

Dehengen’s cabin is perched on a cliff northwest of where you first meet her.Set your quest to Cabin Feverso the quest-finder arrow guides you to your destination. From Dehengen’s location, follow the path, cross the arch, andkeep moving until you spot an Adra Waystone.

Turn left, cross another arch, then head right up a hill. You’ll seepointy wooden fences and two yellow and purple flags. There’s an Aedryan Guard standing watch who will warn you of the danger ahead.

The Envoy is running towards an arc near the Adra Waystone.

You’ll also find Sanza near the Adra Waystone, across the road. He offers another side quest,Mapping The Living Lands: Dawnshore, that requires you to track down his cartographer, Geirmund.

Pass her, and you’ll enter the Fractured Shore. Keep following the path and cross the cliffs, butwatch out, there’s a gap between them, so be sure to jump. On the other side, continue along the path until you come acrossa group of Xaurips gathered around a campfire.

The Envoy sees two flags and a guard.

There are four of them.Take out the Xaurip Elder first, as it can heal the others. After that, deal with the Xaurip Foragers. Watch out for their thrown spears since they can deal a lot of damage. Then, finish off the Xaurip guard.

After the fight, loot the Xaurips for materials, Copper Skeyt, andHealth Potion. Once the area is clear, cross the wooden bridge. Again, there’s a gap, so watch your steps. Climb the stairs, andyou’ll unlock Dehengen’s cottage Fast Travel, allowing you to return to her cabin anytime.

The Envoy is entering Dehengen’s house through the front door.

Dehengen’s Journal And Other Loot

Once you’ve found Dehengen’s cottage, there’s plenty to check out here. You canenter through the front door if you haveDehengen’s Key, or you canround the house to break a wooden crate and slip through the opening.

First Room: The Mural

If you enter through the front, you’ll immediately face a Xaurip and a Xaurip Forager. They aren’t much of a threat, so take them down quickly.

Look around, and you’ll noticea Crude Wall Painting depicting an elf and a Xauripholding hands, with other Xaurips dancing around them. Interact with it and Kai will offer his insight about this mural, which isn’t much. He’ll also suggest looking around, so that’s what you should do.

The Envoy is staring at the strange mural depicting a Xaurip and a wood elf holding hands.

There are otherwhite hand-like markingson the walls, but you may’t interact with them. So, focus on looting the room instead:

The chest seems to contain random loot for each playthrough, so you might find items different from those listed above.

The Envoy is looking at Dehengen’s Journal, which is glowing purple.

Second Room: Dehengen’s Journal

Once you’ve gathered everything, open the door to the left of the muralto enter the next room. Immediatelyon your left, against the wall, you’ll find Dehengen’s Journal. Reading it reveals her strange interactions with a Xaurip and her dreams about it.

Kai will suggest speaking with Dehengen. Before heading out, grab the Skaenbonenear the wall with a white Xaurip painting.

The Envoy found Tazaraak, a white, friendly Xaurip.

Behind The Cabin

Step outside andhead to the back of the cabin. On a wooden table with a single chair, you’ll find On Soul Twins: A Treatise, which provides deeper insight into Dehengen’s situation with the Xaurip. From there, continue straight ahead to find someParadisan Laddernearby.

If you enter Dehengen’s cottage from the back, you’ll come across her journal first. But aside from that, there’s no major difference.

The Envoy is running, to the right is the Claviger’s Landing Beacon.

Should You Kill Tazaraak?

It’s best not to kill Tazaraakif you want to be the good guy.Tazaraak is the Xaurip chiefwho shares a soul with Dehengen. He’s friendly, and it’s likely he’s the one who painted the mural in Dehengen’s house.

To find Tazaraak, exit Dehengen’s cabin from the front door.Head to the island on the right by crossing the wooden bridge. You’ll see corpses of Xaurips. Loot them if you want. Once you reach the other side, you’ll find a white Xaurip. That’s Tazaraak. If you have any trouble looking for him, here’s a video showing Tazaraak’s location:

You can either befriend Tazaraak or pick a fight. If you’re friendly, he will try to communicate. If you kill him, he’ll drop aXaurip Tongue, aRaw Crested Turbot, and aCrude Dollmade in the image of a wood elf woman. The Crude Doll is a key item for Dehengen’s quest, which is covered in the next section.

Cabin Fever Quest Consequences And Rewards

Fast travel back to Claviger’s Landing Beacon and speak with Dehengen. She won’t be too happy that you read her journal, but after some frustration, she’ll open up about her half soul. This leads to a choice where you canencourage her to spend time with the Xaurip, tell her to follow her own instincts, warn her about the Xaurip’s dangerous nature, or insist thatthere’s no meaning to be found here.

Dehengen’s side quest is a small one with no major consequences that can impact the rest of the game. The only reason to consider your choices is the immediate reward she offers based on your decision. And also, your conscience.

If Dehengen Spends Time With The Xaurip

If you choose to tell her that she should spend time with the Xaurip, you’ll need to convince her a bit.If you’re an Arcane Scholar, you can share stories of even stranger soul twins. Otherwise, you can appeal to her empathy by suggesting sheput herself in the Xaurip’s shoes.

Either way, the quest will end, you’ll earn XP, and she’ll decide to meet the Xaurip. As a reward, she’ll give you the Vindictive Band, a ring thatapplies Poison Damage on Critical Hits.

If Dehengen Doesn’t Give The Xaurip A Chance

If you choose any other option,Dehengen will refuse to take the risk. She won’t meet with the Xaurip, andyou’ll miss out on the Vindictive Band. However, you’ll still gain XP for completing the quest.

If you’ve been supportive of her twin soul being a Xaurip, she will choose to spend time with it. If you’ve been negative or doubtful, she will refuse to take the risk.

If You Kill Tazaraak

If you kill the Xaurip chief before turning in the quest, you’ll find Dehengen depressed when you return to her. She immediately realizes that Tazaraak is dead and expresses regret over her decision.

She’ll explain what really happened between her and the Xaurip. Despite her sorrow, she doesn’t blame you. You’ll still receive XP and her gratitudefor completing the quest. However,if you want to get the Vindictive Band, you must give her the Crude Doll or choose “Next time you have a Xaurip problem, come to me.”
