If you’ve been diligent in exploring the Nefias ofElin, you may have picked up the strange key item “Fragrance of Goddess”. This allows you to wish for any item in the game, but how to use it is not immediately apparent.
This guide will cover how to get the Fragrance of Goddess, how to use it for making wishes and the best items in the game to wish for. We’ll also cover the “Black Cat’s Saliva” item that upgrades your wishes to become even stronger. It’s very easy to accidentally spoil your wish, so we’ll also note some common traps people fall into.
How To Get The Fragrance Of Goddess
While exploring the overworld or delving into Nefias, you’ll rarely encounterstatues of the various deities.Each statue gives a reward related to their deity, though we’re looking for the Luck Goddess Ehekatl:
These statuesappear rather rarely and can only be used once each. They have a high sell value that sharply declines after granting their boon.Statues of Wind and Healing do not currently have a use in the game, so they can be sold if you manage to drag them to a shop.
The easy way to find these statues quickly is to travel theoverworld while holding a Detector tool. This item emits a beep if you carry it while entering a map containing a specific item. You can configure the item depending on whether you’re specifically looking for Statues of Luck or just interesting loot in general.
The detector requires you towalk a few steps on the map before it starts beepingto indicate whether you’ve found a statue. It will also only work if activelyheld in your handand not just placed on your hotbar. Some workshop mods modify how the detector works to make it more streamlined.
High-level Nefias can also be a good source of statues. Exploring level 100+ dungeons we found two statues of luck in back-to-back floors, but the regular combat makes the detector hard to use.
If you want to save the statue for later, either for ornamental purposes, to sell or because you want to bank an extra wish, you have two options for getting these statues back to your base:
Whatever your method for gathering the Fragrance of Goddess, you’ll now need a way to use it for wishing.
How To Make Wishes
Once you’ve gained the Fragrance of Goddess needed to make wishes you need to work out how to use it. The item description notes it’s related to the Goddess of Wishes but doesn’t specify how.
In the early game you may have learned to avoid recklessly drinking from wells and fountains: It can damage your learning potential or give you harmful mutations. Now that you’re able to make wishes, you’ll want todrink from fountains at every chance you get.
Bring a Blessed Potion of Cure Mutationwhen drinking from fountains. This can cure any negative mutations while keeping the beneficial ones.
You’ve got a roughlyone in ten chance of getting a wish, so some wells might run dry in the process.You can travel between several, but its best to use wells in settlements. The only drinking water source that cannot be used for wishing is the holy well in Noyel. Instead you canbottle the water here so you can bless potions and items.
When youdrink from a well while holding the Fragrance,there’s a chance that a textbox will appear on-screen, similar to when writing your epitaph or tuning the detector.Type your wish hereand it will appear on the ground below you. The game will try and find an item containing your wish in the name and then give you either a generic or enchanted version, depending on the context.
If you aren’t expecting the wish prompt, it’svery easy to accidentally hit confirm on your wish without typing anything. You will lose your wish in the process and be given a “quiver” since the text prompt begins with a single q already entered.
Best Things To Wish For
Being able towish for anythingis very open-ended and a bit intimidating. It takes a lot of effort to make a single wish, so you want to be sure it isn’t wasted.
How well your wish is granted maychange with your language settings and phrasing.The input box doesn’t have space for longer item names, and if a lot of items share a name, its hard to get a specific version.
This is noticeable with decorative items like “A Crystal” which will instead give you the crafting item “Earth Crystal”.We did all our testing in English.
If playing with an Oath of Destiny, you’re often bestusing a wish that produces consistent results. The Palmia Times will note wishes made by other adventurers, and if they were granted. Otherwise, you can load back and try different ways of phrasing your wish.
Generator
“Generator”
Wished generators have the advantage over crafted ones of notneeding a human to manually power them.
A single generator can befound at the Truce Grounds.It doesn’t respawn.
A hypothetical character with around a thousand points of strength and pickpocketing could steal them from towns.
Lightsaber
“Lightsaber”
The off-brand laser swordscales to your magic device and casting skillsinstead of swords and tactics. It always has 100% armour penetration.
Vindale Cloak
“Vindale”
Familiar to Elona veterans,this protects you from Ether Disease. If you don’t have areliable source of antibodies, this is a great find.
Seven League Boots
“League”
Another returnee from Elona, theseincrease your travel speed on the world map. Some timed quests won’t be possible without these.
Machine Table
“Machine Table”
This crafting table is normally difficult to gather the materials for.
Can be crafted but requires rare microchips.
Railgun
“Railgun”
The science fiction rifle is exactly as powerful as it sounds. Wished versions normally haveplenty of upgrade slots.
Can be found in high-level firearm shops, around investment level 30+.
Futon
“Futon”
The highest quality portable bed. Great tokeep in your inventory while traveling.
King’s Bed
“King’s Bed”
This bedmultiplies the productivity of most villagersand raises your property value tremendously.
Can be claimed with furniture tickets or crafted with carpentry. Requires very high levels of either.
Syringe of Ether Solvent
“Solvent”
This itemremoves only your most recent symptom of Ether Disease, letting you keep your wings but lose the facial sores.
Can be purchased in Little Gardenafter killing a Big Daddy and freeing a little sister.
“Sun Crystal”
“Mana Crystal”
These are used to craft some nice utility items, theSun Lamp and grimoire of Study.
“Tree of Cherry”
“Ether”
If you’re aiming to build a unique-looking base, a good starting point is items you can’t normally obtain.
Some furniturecan’t be brought home unless wished for, while others require several hundred furniture tickets to claim.
If you’re not worried about potential spoilers, you’re able to open the game in debug mode byadding “-DEV” to the startup properties in Steam. This will spawn you into adeveloper room containing a statue of luck right next to a well.
You can use this repeatedly to test different wishes before repeating one in your game.
Banned And Restricted Wishes
Some wishes give disappointing results, notably any version of trying to wish your way into wealth:
Other wishes are banned, directly or indirectly. This will result in the Gods laughing at you, and your wish will be wasted.

Anyitem granted by other god statues, such as a “paper hammer”, is banned.
Items With Stars In Their Name
If you want “★Ehekatl’s Body Pillow” you’ll need to earn40,000 chips at the casino.

How To Get Black Cat’s Saliva
You can only hold oneFragrance at a time andmake onlyone wish per year. Trying to collect a second or getting a new one within a year of making your last wish will give you the related item “Black Cat’s Saliva.”
This second key item increases the strength of your wishes:
The process for collecting Saliva is the same as for getting your first Fragrance, but it can be stacked. Travel about with your detector in hand andtune it in to “Statue Of”. You’re liable to gather an assortment of useful items from the various god statues alongside Ehekatl’s.
Saliva is not consumed when making a wish, so the strength of all future wishes will rise from collecting it. You can deliberatelyhang onto your Fragrance to turn all future rewards into Saliva.
The way wishes get stronger with more saliva means it’s often better tospend early wishes on items that aren’t as impacted by quality and material. The Seven League Boots can be swapped out for another pair in combat, so it normally doesn’t matter if they’re made of paper and have no benefits besides their travel speed.
