Monster Hunter Wildsput a greater emphasis on story compared to previous games in the series, building a world with a lot more lore right in front of you than usual. This doesn’t distract from the core appeal of the game though, letting you hunt monsters galore and gather up seemingly endless materials.
Instead, many of these rarer items have been built into the life of the world, with many of them detailing how this world functions. TheTime-honed Wylk Gemis one such item. A rarity that requires understanding the weather, and giving you a depeer insight into how the world itself works. Here’s where to find them and how to use it.

How To Get Time-honed Wylk Gem
The Time-honed Wylk Gem, unlike many of these rare items, can actually be found in multiple different regions. These include theWindward Plains, Oilwell Basin, and Ruins of Wyveria. Anywhere that you’re able to find a Wylky Gemstone gathering point, you can find a Time-Honed Wylk Gem. However, they are not obtained from the same gathering points.
Instead, Time-honed Wylk Gems are found from a Wylky Crystal Outcropping, which itself only appears during aWylky Crystal Outcropping Emergence. These can appear in both the Inclemency and Fallow, and being either quite rare to non-existent during the Plenty. As such, rest in your tent in any of these areas until the event finally appears.
Despite also being a gem with a similar name, the Origin Wylk Gem, found in the Ruins of Wyveria, bears no relation to the Time-honed Wylk Gem.
Once the event occurs, you canset your map filters to only display gathering points, or set a waypoint directly from the event on the map. Make sure to equip the Geologist skill in advance to boost the chances of you getting multiple drops from a single Wylky Crystal Outcropping.
Uses For Time-Honed Wylk Gem
After you’ve gathered up some Time-honed Wylk Gems, you should set yourself the task of actually finding a use for them. Like many other rare gatherable materials, the Time-honed Wylk Gem can only be used in trading. And despite the fact that it can be found across three different areas, it can only be used in one area.
The traders of the Oilwell Basin will happily take a Time-honed Wylk Gem off your hands in exchange for some rare materials. These items include the likes ofNu Udra Oilmucus+, Azuz Tanned Leather, and plenty more. The people of Azuz use Wylk as the source for their fires, so it only makes sense that they would want as many Time-honed Wylk Gems as you can offer them.
