Putting a much larger emphasis on free exploration,Monster Hunter Wildscomes with a plethora of systems that didn’t exist in earlier games, its weather system chief among them. However, to present this as a living, consistent world, that means you have to show the cycle of life, as well. Monsters don’t just disappear when they die, after all.

In Wilds, you can witness the entire lifecycle of monsters, from their migration across regions as the weather changes, to the birth of smaller forms of endemic life. But you can also see those monsters die, be eaten, and return to the earth. And this is the key to unlocking the elusive Wyvernsprout material.

How To Find Wyvernsprout

Wyvernsprout is a bit of an unusual item, and one that can only spawn in a way that is unique to Wilds. Wyvernsprout is a special item, though it doesn’t have a specific spawn area, though it’s not entirely random either. Instead, you can only get it from small monsters that are sufficiently rotted.

When you kill a monster in Wilds, they will slowly rot rather than despawning. For large monsters, they will lose their colour and become visibly rotted. For small monsters, the same applies, but after another length of time, they will turn into a pile of bonesyou can gather from.

At the point of decomposition when they start to rot, there is a chance that Wyvernsprout will appear on small monsters. This will be indicated by the ‘Carrion Mushroom’ gathering point on them, rather than the typical ‘Rotted Carcass’ one.

If a defeated small monster becomes a Rotted Carcass, then you can safely carve from them asWyvernsprout appears at the moment they become rotted.

Because of the relatively low chance of Wyvernsprout appearing on defeated small monsters, it’s recommended tofarm Ceratontoths in the Windward Plainsas they are quite weak and travel in large herds. They also respawn quite quickly, with new herds usually nearby once the previous one has rotted.

Uses For Wyvernsprout

After a fair degree of small monster culling, you should have gotten your hands on at least a few Wyvernsprouts. These, like many other special items, has a singular purpose, and that is for use in trading. Specifically,it is with Sekka from Suja that you may trade Wyvernsprout with.

Owing to the rarity of the item, Sekka thankfully has quite a generous selection of items you can get from giving her Wyvernsprouts. This can includefive Max Potions for a single Wyvernsprout, with certain monster gems also appearing in her inventory relatively frequently. At least all that hunting had some value.

Make sure toactivate a Gathering Boostfor Suja, which isclassed as part of the Iceshard Cliffs, to double the amount of items you get in a trade.
